Recreation in Ensenada, Mexico

Ensenada has something for everyone.

Its schedule is full of festivals, expositions and events all year long. Festivals include Carnival, which is our version of Mardi Gras, Festival of New Wine and Oysters, Festival of Mushrooms, Tomato and Wine Festival, Jazz Festival, Mariachi Festival, Taco and Beer Festival to name a few. The biggest of them all is the Fiesta de la Vendimia. “La Vendimia” is every August for two weeks and is a celebration of regional wines with events taking place in Ensenada and throughout the entire region.

Just minutes north of Ensenada is the Guadalupe Valley. It is Mexico’s premier wine producing region. Tours and tastings are not limited to only August. The wineries are open all year.

Ensenada is the start to the famous Baja off-road races and the finish for the Newport-Ensenada Yacht Race as well as the annual Rosarito-Ensenada 50 mile bike ride. There is a half marathon, two international beach volleyball tournaments, surfing competitions and deep sea fishing.

There are frequent photo and art exhibits at galleries around the city. Museums and expositions featuring indigenous Pai Pai and Kumeyaay Indian works can also be visited.
